In the Small Things...

In the Small Things...

There is something about a snow globe that is unmistakably enchanting. When shaken, a snow globe captures attention. It gives us a break. It asks us to pause, to watch, to breathe for a moment. It offers up its own kind of magic. And we know that mail does the same.

Mail is one of the last true slow joys in a racing world. Letters are thoughtful, personal, intentional, and tactile. Words that are hard to come by when describing the way we interact in modern times. Mail is humble and quiet. It holds within it a pretty simple magic - just waiting for its intended to release it. To receive it.

As winter settles, mailboxes begin to feel a bit more important. Filled with holiday greetings, warm wishes, and handwritten hellos - our mailboxes become portals between worlds. Yours and theirs. Theirs and mine. Mine and yours. Our mailboxes, like a snow globe,  humble as they may be, are immensely powerful as receptacles of pauses, care, and connections.

Letters, along with snow globes, are quietly stirring invitations to hold something with intention, to linger over love, to feel grounded in the soft and still. Notes and globes may look ordinary enough, but the moment they are handled - something stirs. Words and snowflakes tumble about and we settle into the moment they provide.

And isn’t this, our dear Posties, the heart of this season? To send warmth on a cold day, to share wonder in a bleak landscape, to remind someone they matter.   Letters can do all of this and so much more.

Paper can be powerful like that.
